Assuming no prior knowledge of ‘R’, we will take you through a series of tutorials from downloading ‘R’ packages, familiarising yourself with basic ‘R’ functions. We will then focus on practical applications of ‘R’ such as simple statistics/graphing, and introduce more advanced analyses e.g. survival analysis.
A laptop with wireless connectivity (Mac/linux/Windows) will be required for the workshop. A mobile phone would also be required to get access to local guest wireless connection for the first time (Alternatively, eduroam is also available).
Programmes to be downloaded and installed BEFORE the workshop:
- R: https://cran.r-project.org/ (your computer’s security & privacy settings may need to be adjusted before R package can be installed)
- R studio (open source license): https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/
- TeamViewer: http://bit.ly/1RQTs1m (if you already have TeamViewer, please make sure you have the most up-to-date version)
The course materials can be accessed in advance via our public CiRN Dropbox folder (the R Workshop folder).
Looking forward to seeing you all on 8 February 2017!
